GOV. RENDELL PROMOTES GOALS DURING VALLEY VISIT

The Mornington Call

Governor Ed Rendell relentlessly plugged his two top legislative goals -- health care reform and energy policy -- at a sold-out luncheon organized by the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp.

Rendell, who is making several stops in the Valley today, said Pennsylvania needs to make a financial commitment to provide health care for all citizens, and to find alternative sources of energy.

Rendell said Pennsylvanians need to decide if they are willing to pay for changes that will improve the lot of all residents and make the state more competitive.

"Can the general good prevail over special interest? That's what it's all about," Rendell told a crowd of business executives and elected officials.

After his talk at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Fogelsville, Rendell went to Whitehall to visit its municipal building, which had been recently struck by lightning.
