PA Dems: Building Blue

A message from Congressman Joe Sestak and Congressman Patrick Murphy

As we approach the end of the primary season, it's important to realize how fortunate the Democratic Party is to have two great leaders to choose from to serve as our nominee.

Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama each have the skills and aptitude to lead this nation with dignity. Either candidate can improve our standing in the world as we suffer through the end of George W. Bush's failed second term. Unfortunately, our national security has been seriously weakened by President Bush's failed foreign and economic policies, his tragic misadventure in Iraq and his lack of a comprehensive energy policy to reduce our dependence on expensive, foreign oil.

While Sen. John McCain's military record is beyond reproach and he will always be an American hero, we are concerned his vision for a better America falls short of America's expectations and represents a third Bush term, harmful for our districts.

This is why it is absolutely imperative that when the nominee is selected by the will of the people, we can all back the winner this fall with all of our energy and enthusiasm. Our nation is at a critical crossroads. We will be choosing between the tired and failed policies of the past or fresh, new ideas from our Democratic candidate.

The Republican leadership in Washington remains out of touch with reality and with Pennsylvanians. Working families deserve a leader that not only understands their daily struggles and sacrifices but someone who is willing to act to make their lives easier. That's the fundamental difference between our two Democratic candidates and the Republican status quo.

While each of us backed a different opponent in the primary, we are solidly unified in our goal to elect a Democrat to the White House and have pledged our individual support for the winner regardless of who he or she may be. Fortunately, the real winners will be Pennsylvanians and Americans who deserve better than a third Bush term.

Sincerely,

Rep. Joe Sestak (7th District)
Rep. Patrick Murphy (8th District)

P.S. Visit Cellphones for Soldiers and find out how you can help the men and women of our armed forces stationed overseas stay in contact with their families. And check out Rep. Murphy at www.murphy08.com and Rep. Sestak at www.sestakforcongress.com.

Is it true Rep. Murphy that you received a $18,826.00 donation from the Obama campaign???

"....... would surely sound her death knell in the party." You mean what is left of the party, pun intended ?

PS do "anonymous"s have the courage to use a name, any name?

What has swayed me is the behavior of the Democratic Party in the selection process of selecting the presumed candidate. Take Hillary's name off the ballot during the convention? Looks heavy handed to me.

What I thought after the Clinton suspension speech is, He cannot make it. He is making too many subtle mistakes, visual images of him will stick in potential voters minds. His hand on the lower back and sacrum of his wife in Michigan patting her as she exiting the spotlight, her wearing a sleeveless dress, her body language, his pulling the chair out for Hillary during a debate, him saying "uh" every 5 or 8 words when debating or being interviewed- hesitancy, uncertainty, I could go on for hours

His presidential seal looking seal; the emperor has no clothes reaction, he is loonier than I thought.

This website is boring compared to the competition; it looks old timey, conservative, cautious. It is not going to appeal to younger- I want change potential voters, nor to the voters the Democratic presumed candidate wants.

Power IS shifting from the back rooms to people's living rooms and computers. Nothing can be done to stop that, be they Republican or Democrat, or possibly something else.

There is too much at stake to fall in line. The words "angry", "fanatics", do not apply; Democratic Leaders are slapping the hands that feed them, monetarily and metaphorically. Give money to the Convention fund so that the presummed but not elected candidate can clear the floor of any opposition, Chicago style? With the economy and gas prices the way they are, and after treating Clinton supporters they way the Leaders wanted? You have got to be kidding.

The Democratic Party will unfortunately find out in November just how many voters do not want Obama because of many reasoned, thoughtful, critical thinking, what is in it for me, reasons.

thank you for participating in the democratic process.

Court Docs Paul vs Clinton
Monday, May 26, 2008

I've finally had a chance to read this lengthy appellate brief. Paul's evidence and legal citations (which cases I have not read in their entirety) sound compelling and persuasive on their face.

What I know of the prior history of this case is that it survived the Clintons' motion to dismiss it in its entirety. HRC herself was dismissed as a defendant but Bill was left as a defendant. HRC, however (along with Chelsea) were compelled to testify.

This brief appeals from the decision of the lower court to deny Paul his expedited limited discovery (ie the testimony of HRC) until after the November elections.(I have also heard that the Judge so ruling, was a WJC appointee but have not confirmed that).

I'm now thinking that this may be one reason HRC is staying in this campaign against all odds and reason. My guess is that if/when she drops out, Paul will submit another motion for her immediate testimony. If this were to happen and be granted, she would once again be embroiled in Clintonesque controversy, and that, together with her already high untrustworthiness ratings, would surely sound her death knell in the party.

Any attorneys out there who want to weigh in??
